My project and depression

Cynicism is really bad for entrepreneurs.

As my project has gone FULL BLOOM- consuming lots of my life, it hit a milestone- 300 friends on facebook.

Since my ad campaign I have noticed that people have started to friend request me- rather then me adding them. This is progress.

I also now have two graphic designers to produce flyers. Hopefully the ad campaign will be as memorable as Burma-Shave.

I think about things that would contradict my grand scheme. Things that make it seem obsolete.
This is depressing, but the worst thing I could do is not try. Worse yet would be to half-ass it.

Hopefully this path that I am choosing for myself will lead me somewhere... with free food : )

Finally! A calendar on the web that's decent!

I won't even hold back the excitement and just let you click on the link!

http://usumeetingrooms.asi.csulb.edu/mastercalendar/

im not sure exactly when this came out but anyway- SUPER EXCITED!

I can't even fathom that someone decided to put money in to web development in a event related section. It's Blowing my mind. My mind is blown.

Please check it out to show that you go to long beach - and you know how to use a computer!

About that camera..

You know that camera.. the one I've been waiting for ... for over a week.. the one I spent 300 bucks on.. It came today.

And it makes noises when I move it.

Great.

So I'm going to go through the lovely process of RMA #'s and BS phone convos and get it all settled. At least I took some photos.

A curated guide to CSULB

I think i have the answer to the problem

1. People don't know about events at CSULB.
2. Not everyone goes to every event, but certain events appeal to certain people, so technically speaking, there is something for everyone.
3. If people know about the events, they stay on campus longer, they spend money on campus longer, they have more school pride, and erode the stereotype of a CSULB commuter student.

The answer:

A curated list.

I figure, if I list every single event, it won't help anyone at all. Rather, having a list that I recommend, instead of going to all the events, just the ones I think you should go to. I do realize that by doing that, I am automatically discriminating, censoring, and shunning certain groups/events.
However, with a curated-hand-picked-list, I can really get serious about events, write more background information, and possibly make more students attend events. This, is naturally the end game result I work for.

I'll think more about this over the weekend/finals.

The ol' College try.

It took some time, but operations are going to move forward. Perhaps this blog is not the answer but by making contacts and updating a new calender section in cooperation with the Daily 49er, we just might make CSULB a better place to live.

And just imagine, if everyone at CSULB tried to make CSULB a better place?

The "calender" or .. whatever it will become will start up with a test run starting next semester.

Hopefully it will succeed, bring some more readership to the 49er (and the Union) and work to breakdown the steryotype of CSULB as a commuter school, increase school spirit, improve student life and development, and when I leave that other students will take it on after me.

haha okay too much.

Looking forward to more work-
JY

no clear solution for CSULB event information

yet another event, already passed, and done Mark Hamill (starwars) made an appeareance on campus to talk to students.

And me, a star wars junkie, a film lover, and event specialist some how missed this event. Yet another POOR planned event.

This failure makes me realize how incredibly hard to get the word out, (even with jedi power) and questions if there can ever be a possibility for a uniform way to get the word out.
